Rotary District 6450 RYLA

Your RYLA/OWLS experience will be out-of-doors. You will be the best judge of what you need to be comfortable, however, it is vital to the success of your program that you be prepared for whatever weather conditions exist. All clothing should be loose fitting, outdoor grade and comfortable. The following suggestions will be of use in your preparations:

What to Bring

  1. Warm hat
  2. Mittens or Gloves
  3. Long underwear
  4. Long pants
  5. Shorts
  6. Warm socks
  7. Lightweight socks
  8. Tennis Shoes (no flip flops)
  9. T-shirts and long sleeved shirts
  10. Warm Sweater
  11. Jacket
  12. Rain Gear
  13. Bug Repellant, sunscreen, sunglasses, lightweight hat
  14. Small backpack to carry your things
  15. Water Bottle
  16. Towel – for use after showering

What not to Bring

  1. Please do not bring good clothing that you would not want to get wet or dirty
  2. While participating in the OWLS program, you will be asked to remove ALL jewelry, including but not limited to watches, necklaces, earrings and rings. To insure your jewelry doesn’t get misplaced while you are here we ask that you leave it at home.
  3. Most accommodations on campus are shared bath housing, which cannot be locked. We recommend that you leave valuables at home.
  4. We ask that food not be brought into your housing.

RYLA Committee also asks that you NOT bring:

You will not have time to use them and we cannot protect them.

Please bring a towel. Pillows, sheets & blankets will be provided. If you are more comfortable in a sleeping bag, you are welcome to bring one.

PLAN TO WEAR THE RYLA SHIRTS YOU WILL BE PROVIDED WHEN YOU ARRIVE. If the weather is supposed to be cold, bring a long sleeve shirt or sweatshirt to wear under you RYLA shirt. Rotary International will be videotaping our event so they can update their PR on RYLA; therefore, we need to show the RYLA logo as much as possible.
